MIMIKO LAUDS LAWMAKER ON EMPOWERMENT

Barely two days after the lawmaker representing Ondo central senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Dr Ayo Akinyelure donated items worth millions of naira to the people of the constituency, another lawmaker, Mrs Kemi Adesanya from Akure south state constituency 1 yesterday inaugurated a skill acquisition centre for her constituency.

The State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko commissioned the centre, named Kemi Adesanya Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Centre which has facilities for computer training, hairdressing and barbing among others.

Dr Mimiko, who expressed joy that majority of the current lawmakers in the country have continued to justify the confidence of the people in the nation’s democracy, assured of greater future for the country.

He attributed the various transformations in the critical sectors of the state economy to the synergy between the legislature and executive arms of government in the State, stressing that such a synergy would continue to be sustained for the development of the State.

His words “For us, this is marvellous. It is not the size of the building but the basic concept of the legislator to put this together. She actually put this together to teach our people how to fish, especially at the time when politics has been given different names. What she has done has justified the image of Nigerian politics. For a legislator to think about this is commendable”

He added “We must thank the members of the State House of Assembly for their support at all times. It is the synergy between members of the Assembly and the executive council that can transform the state. The people must be mindful of what they say. I want to assure you that whatever anybody says it is his business. We shall continue to do our best for this State”.

In her speech, Hon. Kemi Adesanya appreciated the support she received from her colleagues and assured that centre would provide opportunities for youth in the constituency to learn one skill or the other for their future development.
